In Memory of Joan Gand

Joan Gand, of North Carolina, passed away peacefully Sunday, July 20, surrounded by her loving family. She was known for her positive attitude and generous spirit. Inspiring and supporting other people were part of Joan's "mission." During her nearly five-year's experience with lung cancer, she hatched the idea of creating whimsical wearable animal pins - "Critters Conquering Cancer" - and contributed some of her earnings to ALCASE. We were delighted to meet her during a vacation trip she made to the Pacific Northwest several years ago and were honored to know this remarkable woman.
