Phone Buddy Program
The Phone Buddy Program provides peer-to-peer support for people with lung cancer and their caregivers by telephone. Phone Buddy volunteers lend support and share information and resources. For many, talking with someone who has been through a similar situation can really make a difference.
To be matched
It’s easy to get connected. Just call our toll-free information line at 1-800-298-2436 and ask to be matched with a Phone Buddy volunteer or email Tara Perloff, Coordinator of Support Services at tperloff@lungcanceralliance.org.
We'll ask questions about the lung cancer and treatments that you or your loved one are going through or will be going through. Buddies are generally matched according to the kind and stage of lung cancer and we also try to match specific requests as often as possible. An important part of the match process is finding out what you will find most helpful to talk with a Buddy about. We will then link you with a Buddy who will most appropriately match your needs. Once paired, you can learn about the Buddy’s experiences, share your own and ask questions about treatment and coping. Our Buddies are not medical professionals so they can’t give medical advice but they can tell you about their own experiences, provide support, and above all, hope.
