Senators Clinton and Hagel team up again on lung cancer resolution

As they did last year, Senator Hillary Clinton (D-NY) and Senator Chuck Hagel (R-NE) again introduced legislation expressing the Sense of the Senate that lung cancer should be declared a public health priority. They were joined this year as original co-sponsors by the co-chairs of the Senate Cancer Caucus, Senator Diane Feinstein (D-CA) and Senator Sam Brownback (R-KS). The resolution lays out a detailed list of research and early detection programs that must be funded to reduce lung cancer mortality by 50% by 2015. While the resolution was passed unanimously by the Senate last year, the House failed to act on a similar one. This year, says LCA, we hope both Houses will act.
