Increases Funding for HHS, NIH and NCI
February 1, 2010 [Washington, DC] -- On Monday, President Obama presented Congress with a $3.8 trillion budget proposal for FY2011 and outlined his strategic priorities for 2011. Among its many provisions the budget provides $81.3 billion for the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), an increase of $1.7 Billion from FY2010.
Within HHS, the Presidential Budget Proposal increases funding for the National Institutes of Health (NIH) from $31.01 billion in FY10 to $32.00 billion in FY11, with $5.26 billion set aside for the National Cancer Institute (NCI).
These numbers will undoubtedly change as Congressional negotiations and amendments produce a finalize budget for passage and Presidential signature.
