On behalf of the lung cancer community we serve, we send our best wishes for a speedy recovery to Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

According to a Supreme Court press release, Justice Ginsburg is now resting comfortably after undergoing a pulmonary lobectomy today.

Two nodules, found to be malignant on initial pathology evaluation, were removed. The nodules were incidental findings from tests used to diagnose and treat Justice Ginsburg’s recent rib fractures from a November 7 fall.

“We are relieved that Justice Ginsburg benefited from early detection when cancer is treatable, and even curable,” stated Laurie Fenton Ambrose, President and CEO of Lung Cancer Alliance. “We are here to be a support and guide through detection and treatment, as we have been for thousands of patients and caregivers.”
