On May 17, 2019, The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released the final Medicare Part D Rule, where they decided to preserve the original Six Protected Classes policy. LCA Urges CMS to Remove Barriers to Screening

In a number of communications to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), Lung Cancer Alliance urged the national CMS office to 1) instruct all local Medicare contractors that lung cancer screening coverage is available in all settings including Independent Diagnostic Testing Facilities across the country and 2) provide oversight to these contractors that are erroneously denying lung cancer screening.  Low dose CT scans are a nationally covered preventive screening service available to Medicare beneficiaries in all settings.
