Volunteer as a Phone Buddy

Volunteer as a Phone Buddy2018-10-01T20:48:11+00:00

Becoming a Phone Buddy and sharing your personal lung cancer experience can make all the difference in the life of someone faced with the disease. Currently, we have a specific need for volunteers who have been on immunotherapies or targeted medications, as well as those who have been diagnosed with small cell lung cancer.

When you sign up to become a Phone Buddy, you are committing to the following:

  • Completing a questionnaire that outlines your treatment history and experiences
  • Reviewing our easy to follow training guide
  • A 60-90 minute telephone orientation with a LCA support staff member
  • Once matched, allowing for 1-3 hours a month to talk on the phone with your buddy (time commitment can vary depending on how often you and your match want to talk)

LCA promises to:

  • Connect you with people who can relate to your unique experience (same type/stage of lung cancer, etc.)
  • Provide you with a guide to help prepare you to be a Phone Buddy
  • Offer support to questions you may not know how to answer
  • Follow-up to discuss any emotional difficulties that arise
